How to play Cosmillion
Cosmillion is a daily rarest-answer game: seven prompts, 25 seconds each, and points for the answers nobody else gave. This walkthrough follows one full launch in the order you'll actually play it. The rules below describe the official game at cosmillion.com ↗ in our own words.
One launch, step by step
Cosmillion runs in the browser at cosmillion.com. There's nothing to install and nothing to sign up for; the free daily launch works on phone and desktop alike.
Each launch deals seven prompts, identical for every player that day — name a fruit, a spice, a job that didn't exist thirty years ago, that kind of thing. Your job is not the obvious answer; it's the answer the rest of the field won't reach.
Every prompt runs on a 25-second window. Spend the first few seconds thinking of two or three candidates, then submit the rarest one you actually believe the game will accept. An answer in the hand beats a perfect answer after the buzzer.
The game scores each answer by how crowded it was that day, across six official tiers: common picks score around 10 points, rare ones climb to 85 and 100. One tier, Overthought, exists specifically for clever-looking answers that lots of players still found — our scoring guide explains how to dodge it.
The results screen shows how each of your answers ranked, your total out of a possible 700, and a challenge link you can send so a friend plays the same board against your score. Streaks build across consecutive daily launches.
The free game gives one launch per day; the official site lists new boards at midnight IST (its own published schedule). Its paid All Access unlock adds unlimited launches, the board archive and themed packs — and if you want a free way to practice the genre more often, our own Depth Drill plays endlessly in the browser.
What counts as an answer
An answer needs to genuinely fit the prompt — a fruit for a fruit prompt, a real job for a job prompt. The game's matching is forgiving on spelling: plurals, variants and accented forms are accepted, and a near-miss spelling triggers a confirm prompt rather than a silent reject. It does not accept answers that don't satisfy the prompt's condition, no matter how rare they are.
