Countries With H in Their Name
This was an official Krillion prompt (Dive #110): name a country with the letter H in its name, ignoring the word "the". There are more than twenty valid answers — and the gap between the +10 crowd answers and the +100 gem is where the game is won.

Rarity-ranked list
Read bottom-up when you study, top-down when you need a safe answer. Tiers: Obvious (everyone types it) → Common → Uncommon → Rare → Gem (one in a krillion).
| Entry | Rarity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| China ✓ | Obvious | Official example tier: +10 — the crowd answer. |
| Chile ✓ | Obvious | +10. The CH- opening everyone finds first. |
| Thailand ✓ | Obvious | +10. TH- opening, same crowd tier. |
| Haiti ✓ | Obvious | +10. |
| Bangladesh ✓ | Common | Trailing H people forget. |
| Ghana ✓ | Common | G-H opening. |
| Bahrain ✓ | Uncommon | Official example: +60. |
| Bhutan ✓ | Uncommon | Official example: +60. |
| Ethiopia | Uncommon | The T-H in the middle hides in plain sight. |
| Honduras | Uncommon | Starts with H — shortlist openers are all Asian, which is exactly why this slips. |
| Hungary | Uncommon | Starts with H. |
| Czechia | Uncommon | C-H in the middle. Some games only accept 'Czech Republic' — the long form contains H too. |
| Philippines | Uncommon | PH- digraph counts as H. |
| Lithuania ✓ | Rare | Official example: +60. |
| Lesotho ✓ | Rare | Official example: +60. The T-H everyone skips. |
| Liechtenstein ✓ | Rare | Official example: +60. |
| Switzerland | Rare | The C-H nobody checks — most players swear Switzerland has no H. It does. |
| South Africa | Rare | The S-O-U-T-H rule: compound names hide an H in 'South'. |
| South Sudan | Rare | Same S-O-U-T-H trick. ('The' in 'the Sudan' ignored per rule.) |
| Marshall Islands ✓ | Rare | Official example: +85. MARSHALL carries the H. |
| Bosnia and Herzegovina ✓ | Deep cut | Official example: +85. HERZOVINA's H in the middle. |
| Northern Ireland ✓ | Deep cut | Official example: +85. Constituent country — the official ruling accepted it as a sovereign-level exception only recently, which is why it's a gem. |
| Seychelles ✓ | Gem | Official example: +100 — the gem of this prompt. Hidden CH before -LLES. |

Traps & near-misses
- Forgetting the S-O-U-T-H family: South Africa, South Korea ('South' contains H), South Sudan.
- Switzerland — players confidently claim it has no H. It has one: switcHland.
- The word 'the' is ignored by rule, which matters for 'The Gambia' (no H anyway) and the Bahamas-style edge cases.
- Bangladesh's final H — the most missed common answer in our playthrough.
How this helps in the dive
Letter-containment prompts reward breadth, not speed: scan for the H you'd normally skip (the Netherlands' silent-feeling H, Bangladesh's trailing H, Seychelles' hidden CH). Tier tags = how commonly players recall each country.
