How to Play Krillion
Krillion (krillion.io, “the daily dive”) is a free daily trivia game with one twist that changes everything: the obvious answer barely counts, and the rare one sinks you deeper. Here is the whole game, in plain language.
The basics
- Seven prompts a day — the same seven for every player, resetting daily. Prompts are “name a …” trivia questions, like naming a country with a specific trait or a movie with a specific detail.
- 25 seconds per prompt — the clock starts when the prompt appears. If it runs out, that prompt scores nothing.
- One typed answer per prompt — no multiple choice. You type a word or phrase, the game checks whether it actually fits the prompt, and that's your single attempt.
- Only valid answers score — an answer that doesn't fit the prompt is a miss. Being fast doesn't help if the answer is wrong.
The twist: rarity scoring
This is what separates Krillion from ordinary trivia. Every valid answer is judged by how uncommon it is — roughly, how few other players would think of it. The popular answer (what most people type first) earns almost nothing. The obscure-but-still-valid answer earns the most, sinking your score meter deepest. Think of it as reverse Family Feud: you are rewarded for avoiding the answer everyone gives.
Answers are judged against the game's own answer lists and rarity tiers, so the same answer earns the same depth day after day. Each prompt has at least one genuinely deep “gem” answer hiding in it — the ideal target when you can recall one in time.
How a run scores
- Answer all seven prompts (or run out the clock on some — they simply score zero).
- Each valid answer adds depth based on its rarity tier.
- Misses and timeouts add nothing.
- Your final depth is the sum, and you get a result worth comparing and sharing.
Good to know before your first dive
- No account needed — open the game and play as a guest.
- Because scoring rewards rarity, looking up answers defeats the point: if everyone copies the same list, those answers stop being rare. Use guides to learn the thinking pattern, not today's words.
- The game judges typed text, so spelling matters — a valid answer typed wrong is still a miss.
Krillion vs. other daily games
If you like daily games generally: Wordle is deduction, Krillion is recall-under-pressure with a rarity reward. Our own games like Krillion page compares it with Farflung, LinkedIn Pinpoint and more. And if you want the same shared-daily habit on the football side, our Daily Drill gives everyone one real NFL ending a day to coach.
Krillion is made by others and played on krillion.io — we are not affiliated with it (see our third-party games disclaimer). An independently built unlimited practice version of this genre is in the works on this site; in the meantime, our strategy guide teaches the rarity mindset that works on any daily dive.
